Measurement Guide
Kurta & Vest Set — Men's Custom Sizing
Before you begin
Use a soft tailor's measuring tape — never a rigid ruler. Stand upright in a relaxed posture. Wear well-fitted undergarments or thin clothing only — no thick layers. Have a second person take your measurements where possible, as self-measuring can introduce inaccuracies. Note all measurements in inches.
Upper body
01
Shoulder Width
Across backMeasure from the tip of one shoulder across the back to the tip of the other shoulder. Keep the tape straight and horizontal across the upper back.
Stand naturally — don't raise or roll your shoulders.
02
Chest
Full circumferenceWrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest — usually just under the armpits, across the nipple line. Keep it level all the way around.
Breathe normally; don't puff out your chest.
03
Arm Hole
Full circumferencePlace the tape at the top of your shoulder where it meets the arm, loop it under your armpit, and bring it back to the start. This is the full armhole opening.
Keep your arm relaxed at your side while measuring.
04
Waist
Full circumferenceMeasure around your natural waist — the narrowest part of your torso, typically an inch or two above your navel. Keep one finger between tape and body for comfort ease.
Don't hold your breath or suck in your stomach.
05
Stomach
Full circumferenceMeasure around your stomach at its fullest point — usually about 2 inches below the navel. Stand relaxed; this is often the widest part of the midsection.
This is different from waist — don't skip it.
06
Hips
Full circumferenceMeasure around the fullest part of your hips and seat — usually 7–9 inches below the natural waist. Keep the tape parallel to the floor all the way around.
Stand with feet together for an accurate reading.
Arms & sleeves
07
Arm Width (Bicep)
Full circumferenceFlex your arm slightly and measure around the fullest part of your upper arm — the bicep area. Keep the tape snug but not tight.
Measure both arms if one is noticeably larger.
08
Lower Arm (Forearm)
Full circumferenceMeasure around the fullest part of your forearm, just below the elbow. Keep your arm extended and relaxed while the tape goes all the way around.
This is roughly halfway between elbow and wrist.
09
Wrist
Full circumferenceMeasure around your wrist at the narrowest point, just above the wrist bone. Keep the tape level and relaxed — this is the cuff reference for your sleeve.
Measure over the wristbone, not on bare skin between bones.
10
Sleeve Length
LengthwiseStart at the top of the shoulder seam, bend the arm slightly at the elbow, and measure down the outer arm to the wrist bone. This gives a full-length sleeve measurement.
Always measure with a slight elbow bend for proper length.
Lower body
11
Around Thigh
Full circumferenceStand with feet slightly apart. Measure around the fullest part of your upper thigh — about 2–3 inches below the crotch line. Keep the tape parallel to the floor.
Measure both thighs and provide the larger reading.
12
Around Knees
Full circumferenceMeasure around the knee at its center — just across the kneecap. Stand with legs straight and relaxed. Keep the tape horizontal all the way around.
Don't bend the knee while measuring.
13
Around Calves
Full circumferenceMeasure around the widest part of your calf muscle, typically in the upper-to-middle section of the lower leg. Stand flat-footed while measuring.
The widest point is usually closer to the knee than the ankle.
14
Around Ankle
Full circumferenceMeasure around your ankle just above the ankle bone — the narrowest point of the lower leg. This determines the opening width of the bottoms.
Measure over the ankle bone, not between the bones.
Lengths & height
15
Kurta Length
Top to hemMeasure from the highest point of your shoulder (where the collar seam sits) straight down the front of the body to your desired hemline. Most kurtas fall just above or below the knee.
Decide on your preferred length before measuring — above knee, at knee, or below knee.
16
Vest Length
Top to hemMeasure from the top of the shoulder down the front to where you want the vest to end. Vests typically end 3–4 inches shorter than the kurta, but confirm your preference.
The vest hem should not extend below the kurta hem.
17
Bottoms Length
Waist to ankleMeasure from your natural waistline straight down the side of the leg to your ankle bone (or desired hem). Stand upright with feet flat on the floor.
Measure over bare feet, not shoes, for accurate trouser length.
18
Height
Floor to crownStand against a flat wall without shoes. Place a flat book on your head parallel to the floor, mark the wall, then measure from the floor to the mark. Report in feet and inches.
Have someone else mark the wall for the most accurate reading.
